Design Director

Arc Institute is an independent nonprofit research organization advancing scientific discovery through collaborative, interdisciplinary research. By bringing together experts in biology, computational science, engineering, and related fields, the Institute develops innovative technologies and supports long-term research that expands our understanding of human health and disease.

Arc Institute is seeking an experienced Design Director to lead and elevate our design function. In this role, you will define and execute the Institute's creative vision, oversee the development of compelling visual experiences, and build scalable design systems that support our mission.

Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary design team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Establish and drive the Institute's visual identity, ensuring consistency across digital, print, and brand communications.

Develop and execute design strategies that align with organizational objectives and enhance the user experience.

Partner with researchers, communications, marketing, product, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality creative solutions.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

4+ years of professional design experience, including experience leading creative teams or design organizations.

Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in brand identity, visual design, digital experiences, and creative direction.

Experience with UX/UI design and human-centered design principles.
