The Street Maintenance Worker plays a critical role in maintaining safe & efficient infrastructure for Salina’s citizens by performing tasks like street repairs, debris removal, & operating essential equipment. Workers ensure the community remains accessible & safe during all seasons. The position offers valuable hands-on experience with construction & public safety, aligning with industry standards for municipal maintenance roles. Duties:
Performs a variety of semi-skilled & skilled manual labor in the construction & maintenance of streets, storm sewers, buildings & other municipal facilities.
May act as lead worker for new and/or seasonal employees; oversees work crews in the absence of supervisors.

Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Experience:
One (1) year construction or maintenance work.
Requirements:
Must live within 40 minutes response time.
Must possess a valid Kansas driver's license at hire.
Preferred possession of a valid Kansas Class B commercial driver’s license (CDL) with air brakes & tanker endorsements, or obtain within one (1) year from start date.
Starting Pay DOQ EOE:
$21.14-22.20/hr.
$43,971-46,176/yr.
Additional $1.50/hour paid for hours worked after 6:00 p.m. & before 6:00 a.m.
Paid Time Off:
48 hours of vacation available upon hire; additional 48 hours earned during the year (96 hours in first year).
96 hours of sick leave during first year
