Medical Biller / Coder

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller / Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing patient medical records, assigning accurate medical codes, processing insurance claims, and ensuring timely reimbursement for healthcare services.

The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems, as well as experience with medical billing procedures and healthcare insurance guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Review patient medical records and clinical documentation for accuracy and completeness.

• Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to medical procedures and diagnoses.

• Prepare, submit, and follow up on medical insurance claims.

• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.

• Investigate and resolve denied, rejected, or unpaid insurance claims.

• Ensure billing and coding activities comply with applicable healthcare regulations and payer requirements.

• Maintain accurate patient billing records and documentation.

• Communicate with healthcare providers and insurance companies regarding billing discrepancies.

• Post insurance payments, patient payments, and adjustments accurately.

• Identify billing errors and recommend corrective actions.

• Protect confidential patient information in accordance with HIPAA requirements.

• Assist with accounts receivable management and revenue cycle activities.

• Meet established productivity, accuracy, and turnaround-time expectations.
